Kimball O. Pomeroy, PhD, HCLD
Scientific Director, IVY Fertility Network

“A Lifetime of Lessons: QA From the Bench to the Corporate Boardroom”

Dr. Kimball Pomeroy has spent his career shaping best practices in assisted reproductive technology. In this session, he will share a wealth of knowledge about Quality Assurance in the IVF laboratory, drawing on decades of experience from hands-on embryology to executive leadership. Attendees will gain practical insight into how quality frameworks evolve across the lifecycle of a laboratory, and how to successfully navigate key performance indicators (KPIs) in today’s paradigm of corporate governance. Dr. Pomeroy will offer actionable tips, proven strategies, and lessons learned to help laboratory leaders and embryologists alike ensure excellence, compliance, and accountability in an increasingly complex healthcare environment.

Charlene Alouf PhD, HCLD

Co-Founder The CoLABorative

“Every Lab Director’s Worst Nightmare: The Endocrinology Laboratory”

Accurate and precise endocrine testing is the cornerstone of safe and effective patient management in assisted reproduction. Hormone results guide critical clinical decisions—from identifying ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS), ectopic pregnancies, the presence of residual miscarriage tissue, to determining whether a cycle should be canceled due to high estrogen levels or luteal insufficiency.

In this session, Dr. Charlene Alouf explores how to ensure analytical excellence in endocrine testing. She covers best practices for establishing and verifying reference ranges, monitoring standard deviations and means, evaluating SDI, identifying positive or negative bias, and trouble shooting for when things go wrong. Attendees will learn troubleshooting strategies for instruments and assays that fail to perform reliably. Whether your controls are always in range—or never are— this talk provides practical, actionable insights for every lab director and technologist overseeing an endocrinology laboratory.

Dr. Charlene A. Alouf is a Reproductive Laboratory Director with more than 25 years of experience in Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART). Throughout her career, Dr. Alouf has been dedicated to implementing state-of-the-art technologies and ensuring the highest quality of care for patients undergoing ART procedures. Her expertise extends to the field of fertility genomics, where she also serves as a Medical Science Liaison for a leading fertility genomics laboratory.
